AN ENERGY GUY FOR OUR GOLDEN VALLEY ELECTRIC
Hello to all my Golden Valley Electric neighbors!
I’m Dave Messier and its been my honor to serve as your advocate on the HEA Board in District 1 since 2017.
With our distance from major plants and our costly rural infrastructure, GVEA faces the highest electricity costs on the Alaskan road system. For me, that’s not an excuse but a call to action.
I’ve spent my time with GVEA working on long-term, forward-thinking projects that take years of technical work but make a real difference once we’ve got them.
I’d be grateful for your vote in this Board Election to continue lowering costs and bring more local smart energy online.
Thank you.
- Dave

COSTS ARE HIGH.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
Electricity bills don't spare my family even when I'm on the GVEA Board. I know the work I'm putting in has to succeed for us, for my neighbors, and for all our community small businesses here in north Fairbanks.
After two decades operating a local energy efficiency small business, serving with the UAF Energy and Power Panel, and earning Energy Manager certification, it was a dream to win election to serve you in the GVEA Board. As GVEA Board Treasurer, I’m proudly pushing us to do the hard work of long-term tough projects that actually lower costs and diversify our local sources. Thanks to publicly released financials and strong audits, members can see that commitment at work.

Diversify and upgrade our sources

Over $100,000,000 in new local energy infrastructure on its way!
Last year, we became the only electric co-op in the entire country to win both a USDA PACE and a USDA New Era grant. These will unlock a powerful $100M large battery system and a wave of new diverse energy projects to stabilize costs and reduce our dependency on imports. Because we're putting our abundant local resources to work, these will be cheaper and cleaner for our air, water, kids, and wildlife than fuels imported from overseas.

Get you options to reduce your bills

I’ve worked hard to support GVEA’s REDUCE program, with up to $10,000 in special low-interest help to you for efficient home appliances, weatherization, or your own rooftop solar. This reduces your costs, gets you an option for high-quality appliances, and helps the co-op gain more flexibility for a stable grid - a win-win-win!

Award-Winning Transparency
I wanted GVEA to publish our financials to the public and modernize our audits - and got it done. I’m proud that GVEA has now been named “the Most Transparent
of Railbelt Utilities” by AETP.

Energy projects are tough anywhere and extra challenging out here in our extreme environment. But I'm proud of what's coming and will do everything I can to make it a success for my neighbors and my family.
